Our services are built around those in the Conejo Valley community who need a hand up and those who are struggling. We work to help each client find a way to gainful employment and affordable housing.
We work to help each person find hope.
Case management services assist those who are homeless or on the edge of homelessness in becoming more self sufficient. Our case managers help each person create attainable goals and walk along side them. Our case managers help with life skills like problem solving, money management and conflict resolution.
Gas & Electricity Assistance
We provide assistance to local residents with gas and electric bills. Southern California Edison assistance is provided once in a 12-month period and The Gas Co assistance is provided once in a winter program period. This means you can only apply once a year or once every 12 months. Certain income criteria apply. The income affidavit is only used for no income or cash income.
The Gas Assistance program for 2024 is open. The credit amounts have changed to $100 and if you are 55 and over it is $200.
The amount of the assistance is only given against an outstanding balance on your bill. If you have autopay set up, this program will not work for you, unless you take your account off of autopay. If you have a zero balance when we process your application, you will be denied by the United Way.
Harbor House staff works with the Ventura County Sheriff's Department on a regular basis. We reach out to those people who are living on the street, and we assist them with their immediate needs.
Harbor House can refer clients based on their needs. Using the Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) we can access county wide resources. We help with housing, emergency shelter, meals, employment, legal, medical and psychological services.
Emergency rental assistance for eviction prevention serves low income families and individuals in the Conejo Valley. Eligibility is based upon set criteria and will be determined through an intake.
If eligible, documentation may be required.
Harbor House provides a program to help our clients obtain a job. We help with the job search, creation of a resume and help with interview prep.

Harbor House signs up families in the fall to be adopted for the holidays. In the past year we had over 300 families sign up and over 700 children. Gifts are distributed in December.
