Harbor House is a social service agency dedicated to helping those who are most vulnerable.. We serve the homeless, hungry and poor by mobilizing the power of the local community.  Working with those that are in poverty means we are working with those who struggle with food and housing insecurity, unemployment, addiction, mental illness and abuse. These problems continue through generations in families and we are aiming to end this cycle. 

Established in 2019

Harbor House is a non profit 501(c)(3) organization social service agency that works to help those experiencing homelessness and living in extreme poverty. We want to ensure this is a community where every family has hope.  

Our Goal

To serve the local community of Conejo Valley/East end of Ventura County and empower this same community to help each other. Our goal is to enable a just community where all members feel invited and can contribute. 

Denise Cortes, founder & director.

​Denise Cortes founded Harbor House to help those in the Conejo Valley living in deep poverty and homelessness.  Denise has lived in the community for over thirty years and has raised her family here. Denise previously worked as Area Director for Lutheran Social Services where she managed all operations in Ventura County.  This work led her to creating Harbor House with local funds helping local people and needs.  Denise has experience as a speaker, teacher and a trainer.

We're Here for You Office 

Due to Covid-19, we are working with clients over the phone by appointment.  We are not currently seeing clients in person in the office. Please contact us by phone and we will help virtually. 

Our office is located at 430 E. Avenida de los Arboles, Suite 203A in Thousand Oaks. We are able to meet with clients and receive donations by appointment only.  Please call us to set up an appointment at 855-427-2672. Thank you!
